
Softball Shuts Out Missouri 4-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Catherine Bishop picked up her third win on the weekend as the No. 21 ranked University of Louisville softball team completed a three game sweep of host Missouri with a 4-0 win Sunday. The Cardinals improve to 17-2 on the season.
The Cards jumped on the scoreboard with a run in the first. Audrey Rendon led off the game with a single. Candi Hicks and Lacy Wood walked to load the bases. Leslie Garland beat the throw for an infield single which scored Rendon for a 1-0 lead.
Louisville added three more runs on the second when Sarah Totten led off the frame with a walk, Rendon was hit by a pitch and Candi Hicks delivered a two-run triple. Hicks came home on a groundout by Courtney Moore to make it a 4-0 game.
Cardinal starter Catherine Bishop (10-1) tossed her fourth shutout of the season, scattering three hits and striking out eight. Bishop's no-hitter was broken up in the fifth when Sarah Stringer delivered a one-out single up the middle.Five Louisville players had a hit in the game to account for the offense.
Missouri's Jen Bruck (13-8) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits and striking out three in 4.2 innings. Megan Dennis was strong in relief, retiring all seven batters she faced in 2.1 innings. Stringer finished the game batting 2 for 3. Bruck had the other Tiger hit in the game. Mizzou falls to 15-10 with the loss.
U of L will host the Louisville Classic March 24-26 at Ulmer Stadium.
