LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No. 34 ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team will open the 2006 spring season against No. 49 North Carolina State (9-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals look to continue their 45 home win streak dating back to the 2002 season.
Senior Jhonny Berrido has a team-best 5-2 dual match record playing mostly at No. 6. Junior Slavko Radman and senior Jakob Gustafsson are both 4-2 in dual matches. The doubles team of Gustafsson and senior Jeremy Clark is 6-2 in dual matches and 13-5 overall. Gustafsson and Clark are No. 47 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. The Cardinals are currently on a three-match win streak and have won the doubles point in seven of their eight matches this season.
"We're excited about playing our second Atlantic Coast Conference team in a week," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "It has always been my belief that challenging the elite tennis conference around country will gauge where we are as a program. Last night, NC State upset a very good Kentucky team in Lexington and are 9-0 with a lot of confidence. Tomorrow will be an incredible test for each one of our players."
