The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams announced the 2005-06 schedule for a benchmark year that will see the aquatic Cardinals swimming in their new facility, the Ralph R. Wright Natatorium.
"We are very excited about the 2005-2006 Meet Schedule. It is part of our mission to compete at the highest level at the Big East Conference, we have a very challenging schedule this season," said Arthur Albiero, U of L head coach. "Our student-athletes have demonstrated that they welcome the challenges ahead and they responded with 32 school records last season. We have been fortunate to have assembled a talented and deep freshman class, and their learning curve will shift quickly."
The schedule features a combination of Big-Ten, SEC, and Big East opponents, along with our regional rivalries. The home schedule is particularly challenging as the Cardinals will play host to Eastern Illinois, Illinois (W), Tennessee (W), Kenyon College, Kentucky, and Western Kentucky.
"We are also looking forward to bringing a solid group of athletes to some of the national meets such as the US Open and Spring Senior Nationals to represent our university nationally," said Albiero.
One new feature on the schedule is the Alumni meet which will be particularly poignant for the Alumni who return to get a chance to be the first to compete in the new Natatorium. Any interested Alumni should contact Coach Albiero at 852-8848.
