
Javelet Named Field Hockey Honda Award Finalist

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville field hockey player Jessica Javelet is a finalist for the 2005 Collegiate Women Sports Awards Honda Award for field hockey. The junior midfielder is the first U of L field hockey player to be considered for the honor.
Javelet, a Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., native was a 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA All-America first team selection after leading the nation in scoring with 30 goals and 74 points. The 2005 BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Javelet was also a unanimous first team all-conference selection and was named to the 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division I All-West Region first team for the second consecutive year. She earned third team All-America honors as a sophomore.
Javelet also owns the school records for career points (130) and goals (48) and single season points (74), goals (30) and assists (14).
In addition to her accomplishments on the field, Javelet is also successful in the classroom, carrying a 4.0 GPA in marketing. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-America second team as a sophomore and is a two-time NFHCA Academic Squad member.
U of L finished the 2005 season with a 14-7overall record and posted a 3-2 BIG EAST record in their inaugural season. The Cardinals were ranked 12th in the final NFHCA poll.
Javelet joins Indiana's Kayla Bashore, Duke's Hilary Linton and Maryland's Paula Infante as the finalists for this year's field hockey Honda Award. The winner of the Honda Award for field hockey will become a nominee for the Honda-Broderick Cup awarded annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate woman of the year.
