
Men's Tennis Signs Herrlinger and Sivertsen

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Chris Herrlinger and Morten Sivertsen have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their playing careers at the University of Louisville. They will be freshmen in the 2006-07 season.
Herrlinger, a native of Cincinnati,Ohio is ranked in the top 15 in the Midwest region. He was also a USTA Nationals Hard Court and Clay Court qualifier and a emeber of the Ohio Valley Davis Cup team. Herrlinger was also a recipient of the Ohio Valley Tennis Association Thomas Price Award.
"Chris is a 'sleeping giant' in the Midwest Region," said Ecarma. "I truly believe that he has the potential to go far. I think that after his senior year of high school, Chris will be arriving on campus a top five player in the Midwest and top 100 nationally. He is the second exceptional athlete that we've picked up from the hotbed of talent in Cincinnati and we hope to continue to mine that fertile recruiting ground."
Sivertsen, a native of Oslo, Norway, was ranked in the country's top five his entire junior career and is currently No. 17 as a senior. He advanced to the finals of the U18 Norwegian Championship in doubles and the semifinals in singles.
"Morten is our 'legacy' recruit," said Ecarma. "He is the younger brother of former U of L tennis star Alex Sivertsen - the No. 3 player on our 2000 Conference USA champion team. Morten's got big shoes to fill, but he's up for the challenge. He was a top five junior in Norway and is already finished with high school. He was so keen on joining U of L that waiting a full year to join the team. We look forward to Morten become a Cardinal."
Louisville will open the 2006 spring season on January 13 when the Cards play host to Northwestern the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center at 5:00 p.m.
