LOUISVILLE, KY - Desire Morris scored with just under ten minutes to go as Wright State upended the University of Louisville 2-1 in women's soccer action on Friday night.
"I think it was inevitable that this happened. We have not been playing very sharp soccer in games lately and we have not been sharp in practice," U of L Head Coach Karen Ferguson stated.
"At least if it's going to happen, it doesn't happen in conference," Ferguson added.
The Raiders(3-4-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 8:19 into the match on a goal by Michelle Sarmiento, and that goal would be the only tally of the first half.
The Cards(4-2-0) outshot WSU 4-2 in the first stanza, forcing Steph Comisar to make three saves in the half for the Raiders.
Sophomore Jamie Craft cleaned up a rebound off of a Monique Gjini shot at 65:10 to tie the game at one. It was Craft's team-leading seventh goal of the season with the freshman Gjini earning her second assist on the year.
Morris knocked in a ball that was misplayed by the Cardinal defense at 81:06 for the winner.
Louisville outshot the Raiders 9-7 in the match. Gjini had three shots and Lauren Podvin two to lead the Cards.
The Cards will next face Xavier on Sunday at 1:00 p.m in Cardinal Park. Admission is free, and all home matches can be viewed on-line via Gametracker on UofLsports.com.
