Minnesota Tops Cardinals In Rowing

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Louisville women's rowing team dropped three races to Minnesota Sunday morning in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The 2000-meter races were held on Lake Melton.
The Golden Gophers won the Varsity 8+ race with a time of 7:09, nine seconds ahead of the Cardinals.
Diana Golub coxed the crew of Leslie Walters, Allison Kemphaus, Amelia Buhts, Nicole Alderson, Carmen Noltemeyer, Lisa Terreberry, Brooke Spence and Stephanie George.
In the Second Varsity 8+ race, Minnesota edged the Cards by four seconds. The Gophers had a time of 7:14, while U of L finished at 7:18.
In the Louisville shell was Colleen Blaschuk, Lia Renaud, Jessica Grigsby, Beth Daunhauer, Dana Osoffsky, Karen Bramer, Olivia Brittain, Mandy Moore and coxswain Christy Ochsner.
The Cardinals finished third behind a pair of Minnesota boats in the Novice 8+ race. Louisville had a time of 7:35, while Minnesota's A team won in 7:01.
The Cards' boat was comprised of Osoffsky, Daunhauer, Martha Shults, Melissa Grieshaber, Jen Allen, Erica Boils, Charly Day, Katie Prince and coxswain Jenna Sample.
The Cardinals will spend the rest of the week in spring training before racing Cincinnati next Saturday on Lake Melton.
