
Three Field Hockey Players Named to Academic All-MAC Team

The University of Louisville field hockey team placed three student athletes on the 2004 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. A total of 11 student-athletes were selected to the team by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. To qualify for the honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Carrie Jackson is a sophomore Exercise Science major from Louisville, Ky. (Eastern HS). She played in 20 games as a forward and scored one goal. She is a member of the U of L Student Athlete Advisory Council and was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad and the Athletic Director's honor roll in 2003.
Jessica Javelet, is a sophomore Marketing major from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., (Torrey Pines HS). She started all 22 games and earned first team All-MAC honors in 2004 after leading the Cards - and the league - in goals with 15 and points with 41. She earned MAC Player of the Week honors twice this year (Sept. 6 and Oct. 4) and was named to the Women'sfieldhockey.com honor roll on Oct. 19. Her 15 goals this season place her third on the school's list for single season goals and she is second on Louisville's single-season points list. Javelet was named NFHCA National Academic Squad and Athletic Director's honor roll in 2003.
April White, a junior midfielder from Louisville, Ky. (Ballard HS) majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She started 18 games as a midfielder/back and was second on the team with eight assists. The 2004 co-vice captain was selected to the USFHA `A' camp to try out for the national team. White was also named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad and the Athletic Director's honor roll in 2002 and 2003.
U of L finished the 2004 season with a 12-10 overall record and posted a program-best 8-2 MAC record while tying Kent State for the regular season championship. After winning their second consecutive MAC Tournament, the Cards fell to Pacific 1-0 in OT in an NCAA play-in game.
