Sixth-ranked DePaul Sweeps Softball Doubleheader

CHICAGO - The University of Louisville softball team fell to host sixth-ranked DePaul 2-0 and 5-1 in a Conference USA doubleheader Saturday at Wish Field in Chicago.
In the first game, DePaul got on the board in the second inning when Lindsey Chouinard drew a lead-off walk, moved to second when Gina Ramacci grounded out and scored on a double by Christina Douglas.
The Blue Demons added another run in the fifth when Christina Douglas doubled to lead off the inning, moved to third on Liz Bouck's sacrifice bunt and crossed the plate on a hit by Saskia Roberson to make it a 2-0 game.
Louisville reliever Jessica Rak (12-11) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits in six innings. Offensively, the Cardinals had five hits.
DePaul's Chouinard (27-4) picked up the shutout win, allowing five hits and striking out nine in seven innings.
In the second game, DePaul put up a four-spot in the first inning as Liz Bouck led off with a single, moved to third on a double by Sarah Martz. Roberson's walk loaded the bases for Katy Kukman's two-run single which scored Bouck and Martz to make it a 2-0 game. Dana Kenney's single scored Roberson and Chouinard who had reached on a walk.
The Blue Demons made it a 5-0 game on Christina Douglas' solo home run in the sixth.
U of L averted the shutout on Sara Bausher's solo shot in the seventh to make it a 5-1 contest.
Louisville starter Krystle Herold (5-10) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits in two innings.
Martz (15-1) picked up the win, allowing one earned run and scattering three hits in seven innings.
Louisville (21-23, 12-10 C-USA) and No. 6 DePaul (42-5, 21-2) will close out the regular season Sunday at 1 p.m.
