GREENVILLE, N.C. - - The University of Louisville softball team completed a three-game sweep of East Carolina with a 2-0 win over the Pirates Sunday in Conference USA action.
The Cards struck in the third when Michelle Vasquez doubled, moved to second when Shannon Nord reached on an East Carolina error and scored on Nicole Sparks' groundout for a 1-0 Louisville lead.
Sara Bausher's solo home run to lead off the sixth gave the Cardinals an insurance run.
U of L starter Jessica Rak (7-4-) got the complete game shutout win, allowing three hits and striking out four. Offensively, Calderon finished 3-for-3 with a double. Vasquez was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
"We're very pleased with the conference sweep," said U of L head coach Sandy Pearsall. "We needed this to get the team on track for the Conference USA tournament. We are hitting the ball well, but need to score more runs. Defense and pitching got the job done for us today."

Louisville (11-11, 4-1) will travel to Evansville Wednesday, March 26 for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
