OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Louisville rowing team concluded a successful week of spring training with a win and three runner-up finishes Saturday in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Cardinals' Varsity 4+ crew dominated the five-boat field en route to a first-place finish over teams from Dartmouth College and the University of Cincinnati. U of L finished the 2000-meter course in 8:07.9, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the Dartmouth "A" boat.
The victorious crew was comprised of Stephanie Hutton, Lisa Terreberry, Brooke Spence, Stephanie George and coxswain Christy Ochsner.

The Cardinals' Novice 8+ crew placed second after beating edged by Dartmouth by just five seconds. U of L finished the course in 7:19.3, with Dartmouth winning it in 7:14.5.
Louisville also finished second in the second Novice 8+ race, again finishing behind Dartmouth.
"We had a good week of training," said head coach Richard Ruggieri. "We learned something with each race. All of our crews are gaining speed daily, and hopefully that will show when we race Tennessee next weekend. We are excited about the possibilities of breaking through barriers and reaching our goals that we have set this year."
The Cardinals return to action next Saturday when they travel to Knoxville to race the University of Tennessee.
