CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Several members of the University of Louisville men's tennis team opened the season in Charlottesville, Va. at the inaugural Virginia Invitational Sept. 20-22. The tournament field included 14 teams. Eight of the teams participating (Alabama, Virginia Commonwealth, Wake Forest, Louisville, Rice, Iowa, Nebraska, and Old Dominion) finished the 2002 season ranked by the ITA. The other participating schools included: American, Charleston Southern, Liberty, NC State, and the host Cavaliers. Virginia Tech is also sending several individuals. The three-day event features three singles draws of 32 players and 3 doubles draws of 16 teams. Flight A features six players ranked by the ITA nationally in the 2002-03 preseason rankings.
