Softball falls to No. 16 DePaul 4-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sixteenth-ranked DePaul scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the University of Louisville softball team 4-2 Sunday at Ulmer Stadium
The teams battled through three scoreless innings when Louisville broke through in bottom of the fourth when Keola Calderon led off with a double and scored on Melissa Jacobo's single. Kristi Rozelle, pinch running for Jacobo, took third on a hit by Nicole Sparks and scored when Lisa McMillan reached on a DePaul error to give the Cards a 2-0 lead.
In the sixth inning, DePaul's April Valdez singled and scored on a double by Sarah Douglas to pull the Blue Demons within 2-1.
DePaul capitalized on three hits and two errors to push across three runs in the top of the seventh. Liz Bouck bunted safely to reach and moved to second when the Cardinals threw out a runner. Sarah Martz's RBI single scored Bouck to tie the game at 2-2. Gina Ramacci reached on a two-out error which allowed Martz to score the winning run. Martz crossed the plate on a second Cardinal error on the play to give DePaul the 4-2 win.
Louisville starter Jessica Rak took the loss, allowing four runs, two earned on eight hits. Meisenburg and Calderon each had two hits for the Cardinals.
Martz, DePaul's starting pitcher got the win, giving up two runs, one earned on seven hits and striking out fthree in six innings. Bouck went 3-for-3 in the game. DePaul improves to 27-2 (12-1 Conference USA).
Louisville (20-23, 6-7) will play C-USA opponent UAB on the road April 20-21.
