Softball Loses to No. 13 Michigan 3-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - The University of Louisville softball team lost to No. 13 Michigan 3-0 Sunday at Ulmer Stadium in the final game of the Louisville Spring Tournament.
The Wolverines got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Marissa Young led off with a walk. Mary Conner entered as a pinch runner for Young and took second on Courtney Betley's single. Michelle Teschler's hit loaded the bases for Kelsey Kollen whose RBI single drove in Young to give Michigan a 1-0 lead.
Michigan padded the lead in the fifth inning when Meghan Doe reached on a base hit and Stefanie Volpe's two-run home run gave the Wolverines the 3-0 win. Michigan improves to 21-6. Starter Marissa Young (12-4) picked up her second consecutive complete game shutout, allowing two hits and striking out six. Volpe finished the the game batting two for two with a run scored and two RBI. Betley also had two hits and scored a run.
Louisville starter Kelly Blois (0-3) took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits in 1.2 innings. Kenzie Meisenburg and Lisa Estes each had a hit for the Cardinals. Louisville (15-17) will play host to South Florida in a Conference USA matchup with a doubleheader on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. and a single game on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m.
