MADISON, WIS. - MADISON, Wis. - The University of Louisville doubles team of Cody Conley and Octavian Nicodim advanced to the semifinals of the 2002 Omni Hotels ITA Midwest Regional IV Championships Sunday at the University of Wisconsin. Conley, a senior from Floyds Knobs, Ind., and Nicodim, a sophomore from Bucharest, Romania, are ranked No. 21 in the ITA preseason rankings.

Conley and Nicodim began their run with an 8-3 win over Wright State's Josh Teufel and Forsher. They went on to beat IUPUI's Nikov and Slack 8-6 and Minnesota's Alex Zharinov and Chris Wettengel 8-2 to reach the fourth round where they will face Purdue's Troy Havens and Scott Mayer.

In other doubles action, the team of Sebastian Aspillaga and Jhonny Berrido defeated Toledo's Al Wabhani and Tran 9-8 before falling to Ravi Pathanjali and Ryan Marschalk of Western Michigan 8-5. Matt Mayer and Jakob Gustafsson teamed to beat DePaul's Michael and Huffman 8-1, but lost to Northern Illinois' Aaron Forsberg and Ray VanWasbeek 9-7. Harry Walsh and Jake Kirts lost to Minnesota's Solberg and Eric Robertson 8-5.

In singles, Paulo Carvalho advanced to the third round of the main draw by defeating Michigan State's Jimmy McGuire 6-2, 6-4 and Purdue's Troy Haven 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 before falling to Western Michigan's Pathanjali 6-3, 6-4. Berrido defeated Xavier's Matt Thinnes 6-3, 6-2, but lost to Northern Illinois' VanWasbeek 7-6, 7-6. Nicodim defeated Notre Dame's Brian Farrell 6-2, 6-3 but lost to No. 21 Jeremy Wurtzman of Ohio State 7-6 (8-6), 7-6(3). Walsh lost his first main draw match 7-5, 7-5 to Illinois' Chris Martin. Matt Mayer defeated Northwestern's Chuck Perrin 6-2, 7-6(10-8) and then lost to Iowa's Stuart Waters 6-4, 6-4.
