March 02, 2001 | Softball
The Cardinals, 9-6, scattered seven hits but stranded seven base runners and committed two costly errors in the shutout. The Colonels had two runs on just three hits but played errorless ball.
"If we could erase the first inning when we had the two errors, we wouldn't have had to dig ourselves out of a hole," said head coach Sandy Pearsall.
Cardinal pitcher Tara McClure gave up both runs, neither earned and struck out 10, but didn't have the help she needed on the offensive side. Her record falls to 4-1. Eastern pitcher Kristina Mahon pitched a complete game shutout striking out two.
