MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Louisville softball team lost to Metrodome Softball Classic host Minnesota 2-0 Friday night.
Minnesota broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when Angel Braden reached first on a base hit to short left center and scored on a double by Veronica Roberts.
In the fifth inning, Minnesota's Tammy Hays singled to reach first and scored on a double by Braden to give the Golden Gophers an insurance run and a 2-0 lead.
Louisville had the bases loaded with one out in the first and fifth innings, but could not score.
"We had our opportunities to score," said Loiusville head coach Sandy Pearsall. "Their pitcher made mistakes, but we did not capitalize on them and left nine on base."
Louisville starter Mandy Rockwell (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out four.
The Cards (3-1) will play Northern Iowa (0-4) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
