INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Louisville novice rowing team won three medals at the Head of the Eagle Regatta Saturday in Indianapolis.
The Novice 8+ boat finished second out of 20 crews with a time of 13:31, four seconds behind race-winner Wisconsin.
In the Novice 4+ race, the Cardinals won both a gold and bronze medal. The "A" boat won the seven-team race in 15:17, while the "B" finished third in 16:55.
"The eights rowed their guts out today," said novice coach Emily Egge. "They felt they could have rowed better, which displays their hunger to win. Both fours were technically better, smoother and more relaxed, and that gave them the extra edge they needed."
The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they travel to Elkhart, Ind., for the Head of the Elk Regatta.
