
Women's Soccer Defeats UT-Martin

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team defeated UT-Martin 3-1 Friday night at Cardinal Park.
The Skyhawks got on the board early as Ginger Parson netted an unassisted goal less than three minutes into the game, sending a shot into the top of the goal from 35 yards out to give UT-Martin a 1-0 lead.
Louisville responded at the 12:26 mark when freshman Rachel Gold connected on a cross from senior Kristin Tapp to tie the game.
The teams remained knotted at 1-1 until the 83rd minute, when Tapp blasted an unassisted shot from 30 yards to give the Cardinals a 2-1 advantage.
Senior Amber Jolley padded the Louisville lead with less than two minutes left to play. Gold assisted on the score.
Tapp finished the game with a goal, and an assist and accounted for five of the Cardinals' 10 shots on goal. Gold finished with a goal and an assist.
U of L goalkeeper Meredith Miller allowed one goal in the game and collected one save. UT-Martin's Caryn Scheufler allowed three goals and had seven stops. The Skyhawks drop to 2-10 on the season.
"Kristin Tapp was a bright spot for us tonight," said Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson. "This win will hopefully give us some confidence as we head into the toughest part of our schedule, with six conference games still ahead of us."
Louisville (3-8, 1-3) will travel to St. Louis, to take on Conference USA opponent Saint Louis on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2:00 p.m.
