
Field Hockey Tops Central Michigan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team fought back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan 3-2 on Friday at Trager Stadium.
Melissa Lazarevski got the Chippewas on the board early when she scored an unassisted goal 2:15 into the first half. She added her second goal of the game just seven minutes later when she converted a penalty stroke to give Central Michigan a 2-0 lead.
Louisville's Elisa Eshelman tipped a rebound off of CMU goalkeeper, Janel Spero, to pull the Cardinals within one with 9:48 remaining in the first half. The teams went into halftime with the Chippewas leading 2-1.
Ten minutes into the second half, Danielle Barr tied the game at 2-2 when she connected on a penalty corner with assists from Olivia Netzler and Pip Sanders.
Susan Sattazahn scored the go-ahead goal just 40 seconds later when she netted a shot past Spero to give the Cardinals the 3-2 win.
Louisville outshot Central Michigan 19-6 and had an 11-2 penalty corner advantage.
U of L goalkeeper Christy Hershey recorded one save and allowed two goals, while Spero had nine stops and allowed three goals for the Chippewas. CMU falls to 5-7, 2-4 MAC).
The Cardinals (12-2, 5-1 MAC) will play host to Ball State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
