Volleyball Sweeps Blue Hens

CHAPEL HILL, NC -- - Chapel Hill, NC -- The University of Louisville volleyball team beat Delaware but fell to North Carolina and Santa Clara at the Tarheel Invitational at the University of North Carolina.
The Cardinals fell to host North Carolina 12-15, 15-17, 15-11 in late play Friday night. The Cardinals were led by Sonja Percan who recorded 15 kills and three digs. Emily Roberson posted 17 digs and 14 assists.
"Although the match score was 3-0, this was a battle," said U of L head coach Leonid Yelin. In the match against No. 21 ranked Santa Clara, Louisville lost 11-15, 4-15, 15-10, 13-15 in a hard-fought loss.
"We were right there and this was a great challenge to face this early in the season. The lessons we learned here will help us all season," said Yelin.
The Cardinals were led by Anastasia Zaitseva, who had 15 kills, 11 digs and four blocks.
In the final match of the day, the Cardinals swept Delaware 15-10, 15-5, 15-3. Percan and Zaitseva double teamed the Blue Hens with 16 kills apiece. U of L outhit UD .352 to .146. and outblocked them 10-0.
