Cross Country Teams Compete At Sam Bell Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's cross country team finished 17th out of 22 teams and the women placed 18th out of 23 at the Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
In the men's race, North Carolina State captured the team title with 19 points, Tennessee was second with 102 points and South Florida placed third with 117 points.
NC State dominated the 8K race with five runners finishing in the top ten. Chan Pons of NC State finished in first place with a time of 24:37.8.
U of L's top finisher was Kell Griffin who finished in 56th place with a time of 26:17.0.
In the women's race, Arkansas placed first with 22 points, followed by NC State (97) and Northwestern (138).
Arkansas dominated the 5K race with four runners finishing in the top five. Amy Yoder of Arkansas finished in first place with a time of 17:06.9.
U of L's top finisher was Kim Shore who finished 80th with a time of 19:42.0.
Louisville's next meet will be the Eastern Kentucky Invitational on Oct. 8 at 4:30 p.m.
