Former professional player Alyssa D'Errico, who was a member of four national championship squads at Penn State, begins her first year with the University of Louisville Volleyball coaching staff.
"I am very excited to announce the hiring of Alyssa D'Errico. I think she is one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the business and will make an immediate impact on our staff," said Kordes. "Alyssa possesses leadership qualities and communication skills that make the coaching profession a natural fit for her. I have previously been in the gym with Alyssa and her knowledge base and ability to relay information to players is impressive. She is bright, passionate, and competitive. It's with great enthusiasm that I welcome Alyssa to the Louisville volleyball family."
D'Errico comes to Louisville after playing three years as a libero overseas on the professional circuit after a stellar collegiate career at Penn State. Her professional career included stops in Spain, Croatia, and France. In 2011-12, she played in Spain for Feel Volley Alcobendas Club in the Superliga and was MVP of the Princess Cup. She continued her career in Split, Croatia, playing for ZOK Split 1700 in the top league, as a libero, where she helped guide her team to the semifinals, taking a match off perennial powerhouse Rijeka, for the first time in club history. Her final professional season landed her in the top French league (LNV) playing for Istres Ouest Provence Volleyball as a libero, helping guide the team to a quarterfinal appearance.
"I am absolutely thrilled to join the Louisville family. Anne is an incredible mentor in the game for female collegiate coaches and I have always respected her greatly as a head coach," said D'Errico. "The staff, both in volleyball and athletics in general, has been overwhelmingly welcoming, making me feel right at home from the get-go. The gym atmosphere here at Louisville is unreal with a great group of young talented players but more importantly great people. The support both in academics and athletics that Louisville provides for its student athletes and coaching staffs is unparalleled. Combine that with new facilities, specific to volleyball, and you can't beat the opportunity to be a part of this program."I would like to thank Athletic Director, Tom Jurich, Senior Women's Administrator, Christine Herring and of course Anne for this amazing opportunity to be a part of such an incredible athletic department and volleyball staff."Â
