Hannah Ritter was hired in 2016 as an assistant coach for the University of Louisville rowing program and also currently serves as the lead novice coach. In 2019, she took over the role as the program's recruiting coordinator. A former member of the rowing team and a UofL graduate, Ritter has had the opportunity to experience life as a Cardinal from both sides of the coaching launch.Â
Â
“No place I’ve ever been challenges growth in the staff and athletes the way Louisville Rowing does” says Ritter. “The support is unrivaled, the opportunities are endless, and our team is an incredible group of athletes to work with. I’m really proud to be working with this squad and I’m excited to continue assisting in maintaining Louisville Rowing as a nationally-recognized rowing program.”
Â
Hannah spent all four years of her undergraduate degree rowing for Louisville, starting as a walk-on novice and progressing into the Varsity 8+. She graduated in 2014 with a degree in Computer Information Systems while minoring in Entrepreneurship.
Â
After graduating, Hannah spent a season as an assistant coach for the women’s team with Skyline Crew in Ann Arbor, Mich. Under the leadership of National Team coach Kit Bennett, Ritter coached both the novice and varsity women’s teams. That season, Skyline Crew won a program record seven events by the women at Scholastic Midwest Nationals. Additionally, at Scholastic Nationals, Skyline took the National Title in the Women’s Freshman 4x.Â
Â
Prior to coaching in Ann Arbor, Hannah spent a year in New Zealand training at Tauranga Rowing Club and racing throughout the country.
Â
Ritter recently spent the 2019 summer season coaching for Ready Set Row under the guidance of Holly Austin. At the 2019 USRowing National Championships, the team raced six boats in A-finals and left with a bronze metal in the competitive U17 8+ category.
