Cards Add Six to 2025-26 Roster
June 25, 2025 | Rowing
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville rowing program has added six newcomers to the 2025-26 roster. Claire Allie, Sofia Cadenas, Kayla Grope, Maya Lawrie, Jordyn Luttrell and Ava Turner will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2025.
Â
"I'm very excited to start working with our next class of out-of-sport athletes (OOSAs) to get here in August," said UofL Assistant Coach Brian Reifsnyder. "We as coaches do our best recruiting, not just the best high school rowers possible that fit our program, but the best overall athletes too! The OOSAs that we bring into our program are the backbone of who we are as a team. We need to work together to help ensure they are ready to represent Louisville and compete at the ACC level. While they have limited rowing experience, this group of student-athletes we have coming this fall has accomplished tremendous things in their respective sports, and I cannot wait to see how their athleticism translates onto the water!"
Â
Claire Allie
Hometown: Georgetown, Indiana.Â
High School: Floyd Central High School
Claire Allie on committing to Louisville:Â "I decided to commit to UofL because it offers everything I want in a school, and it's in a city I love. I grew up in this area and the campus feels like home. I decided to commit to the rowing program, because I was given an opportunity to try something brand new and that sounded exciting to me."Â
Â
Sofia Cadenas
Hometown: Salado, Texas
High School: Salado High School
Sofia Cadenas on committing to Louisville: "I decided to commit to UofL because after my visit, I fell in love with Louisville and all the girls and coaches were so nice and welcoming. It was an unexpected opportunity that I couldn't wait to explore and I'm so excited for this new and second home!"
Â
Kayla Grope
Hometown: Diamond, Ohio
High School: Southeast High School
Kayla Grope on committing to Louisville:  "I chose UofL because I feel that it will give me many new and exciting opportunities. I will have the chance to try something new and meet many new people. I also feel that the nursing program is very competitive and I will be able to gain an advanced education because of it."
Â
Maya Lawrie
Hometown: Park Hills Kentucky
High School: Notre Dame Academy.
Maya Lawrie on committing to Louisville: "I decided to commit to UofL because I loved my college tour. I was drawn to the academic programs and co-op opportunities as well as the community and campus."
Â
Jordyn Luttrell
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
High School: Brown School
Jordyn Luttrell on committing to Louisville:"I committed to UofL because I knew I wanted to keep sports in my life, but I didn't want to stick with the same ones I've been playing all my life. Rowing is completely new to me, but also so exciting because I love the idea of trying something new and seeing what I'm capable of. I've always loved being part of a team, and UofL already feels like a place where everyone has each other's backs. The teams seem super close, and I can tell it's the kind of environment where people push each other to be better while making friendships that last a lifetime. Plus, being close to home makes the whole college transition feel a little less overwhelming."
Â
Ava Turner
Hometown - Madison, Indiana
High School- Shawe Memorial High SchoolÂ
Ava Turner on committing to Louisville:: "I made the decision to commit to UofL because I have always loved to compete and this gives me the opportunity to continue doing that at the next level. UofL offers the best programs that align with my career goals and has a supportive community that makes me feel welcome. I am excited and looking forward to this next chapter." Â
