2006: Sam spent the summer as a member of the A2 Junior National team and played in Croatia. The USA A2 JNT, coached by Lee Maes, defeated the Italians from Spes Volley Conegliano in straight sets (25-15, 28-26, 25-18). They become the first American team to win the Global Challenge in its three years of existence.Sam led the Cardinals with 1,098 assists and added 148 kills on the season. She had 39 service aces on the season, second on the team. Totalling 50 blocks on the season, she posted a .320 hitting percentage. She hit .417 with six kills, 47 assists and 13 digs in BIG EAST Final against Notre Dame Her season high 59 assists came against UConn in BIG EAST Quarterfinal. Her best regular season match came against Cal-Poly with 10 kills and 47 assists. Her best conference match was against Marquette with seven kills, seven blocks, and 42 assists.
High School: In high school, Dabbs, who was ranked as the No. 22 recruit in the nation by Prep Volleyball.com's Senior Aces Poll, played for Churchill and led them to a regional final. The highly-regarded setter was a four-year varsity player and co-captain for Churchill. As the senior varsity captain, she was named All-Tournament at the Duncanville Tournament, the NEISD Tournament and the AISD Tournament. As a junior, she earned the "Texas Outstanding Setter Award from Lonestar-volleyball.com, All-Texas Team, High School All-American, Texas Girls Coaches Association First Team 5-A All-State honors and the team's Varsity MVP award chosen by the players. She was named All-Tournament at Duncanville, NEIDS and AISD tournaments. As a sophomore, she was honorable mention All-District and named in the Top 79 sophomores by PrepVolleyball.com. She was named second-team All-Texas by lonestarvolleyball.com as well. Dabbs played club volleyball for Alamo Volleyball Association for seven years where she has earned three bronze medals. She also helped win a National Title in the Open Division in the USAV Junior Olympics, where she also earned the MVP award for 15-Open Division and All-Tournament in 16-Open Division. She has also trained with the USAV High Performance Team.
