Junior: Abigail qualified for the NCAAs last year and helped the Cardinals to a final in the 800-free relay (6:59.58) with a split of 1:44.76. At ACCs, she scored 59 points. She was a finalist in the 500-free where she went 4:43.82 with a 12th place finish. She won the B-final. of the 200-free with a 1:45.83. She was sixth in the 200-fly with a 1:57.08. She was also a part of the 400-free relay team that finished fourth in 3:15.59 with her splitting 49.67. In the dual meet season, she swam primarily the 200-free, 200-fly and the 500-free. Highlights include a second place swim against Cincinnati (1:47.84) and she put up a 1:46.18 at the UofL Invitational. At the SMU Classic, she swam the 200=fly and had wins at that event against FSU and Kentucky. She posted a 4:49.62 in the 500-free in the 4:49.62. At the Arena Pro Series, she was a finalist in the 200-meter fly with a 2:19.63. At Mesa, she was a finalist in the 200-fly with a time of 2:18.89.
Sophomore: Abigail Houck put in solid work as sophomore for the Cardinals and earned All-ACC honors. At the ACC Championships, she swam the third leg of 800 Free Relay with a split of 1:46.61 and earned a bronze medal. She made the B-final of the 500-free with a time of 4:48.2. At USA Short Course Nationals, she was the third leg (1:47.78) for a third place in the 800-free relay. She made the B-final of the 200-free with an overall 14th place finish with a time of 1:47.82. She also made the finals in the 4x200-meter free relay with a third place, swimming the third leg in 1:47.78. She made the NCAA squad and swam the 800 free relay. A highly versatile swimmer, her dual season highlights included a third in the 1000-free against Florida State, a win in the 200-free vs. Xavier in 1:51.01 and third in the 500 versus North Carolina. She was fourth in the 500-free versus Indiana and third in the 200-free versus rival Kentucky.
Freshman: Houck had an impressive freshman year with the Cardinals as she was named to the All-Conference squad after a strong showing at the AAC Championships. She was a member of the 800-freestyle relay squad which broke a school record with a 1:47.17 showing at the Championships. Houck was the fastest Cardinal as she finished second in the 1650-free in 16:44.64. Along with the second place finish, she finished third in the 500-free with a time of 4:46.11 and finished eighth in the 200-free in 1:49.29. Houck placed first six times this season while winning the 500-free three times (Notre Dame, Kentucky, Cincinnati/Houston). She finished first in the 1000-free against Notre Dame in a time of 10:09.00 and against Xavier. She also added a first place finish in the 200-free at the Michigan Invitational in 1:47.88.
Prep: Abby Houck hails from Boulder, Colorado where she swam for North Jeffco Swim team. Houck is a Colorado state champion in the 500-freestyle. She was also a five- time All- American in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle, and competed at the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 400-meter freestyle.
