As a super senior (2021): ACC All-Tournament selection... Started all 49 games in centerfield... Led the team with 12 stolen bases and four triples... Tied for third on the team with 19 runs... Finished her career ranked second on Louisville’s list for career triples (22) and stolen bases (74)... Her 121 career runs scored place her 10th on UofL’s all-time list... Owns the school single season record for triples with 13 in the 2019 campaign and stands second in stolen bases after swiping 29 that same year... Tied a career high with three stolen bases at Boston College (5/1)... Personal: Full name is Celene Funke… Nickname is Funke… Birthdate is May 17, 1998… Daughter of Tom and Yorika Funke… Earned her undergraduate degree in finance in May 2019, currently pursuing her MBA… Post college ambition is to work a finance job or go to physical therapy or physician assistant school… Chose Louisville because she wanted to be part of an elite athletic program and earn a worthwhile education – also she wanted her family to be able to attend her games… Wears No. 33 because 3 is her lucky number but it was taken, so she put two 3s together for double luck… Most people don’t know that she has a pet snake… Her mom is her biggest inspiration because she moved to the US from Japan on her own when she was just 18. She worked her way through college and is a successful chemical engineer – she hopes to be as courageous as her mom one day.
