The Butler High product is ranked as the No. 28 inside linebacker by ESPN.com and the No. 38 inside linebacker by 247Sports.com. He directed his team to four consecutive SW4A Conference football championships from 2010-13. He also played a part in the 2010 and 2012 class 4AA state championship teams coached by Brian Hales. Stewart finished his junior season with 115 tackles and six sacks. The next year, his senior season, he finished with a team-high 125 tackles. Stewart was picked to the 2013 All-South West 4A team. He participated in the 2014 Carolinas Shrine Bowl all-star game. Stewart chose Louisville over offers from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, NC State, Purdue.
