Powell has only carried the ball 211 times, at least 22 carries fewer than any of the individuals ranked above him in yards per game. Despite missing the Syracuse game and the second-half of the Pittsburgh game due to injury and a majority of the West Virginia game due to illness, Powell still ranks nationally in the following categories.
Powell currently has seven 100-yard games this season, tied for the most all-time in a single-season in school history. Powell is tied with Frank Moreau (1999) and Walter Peacock (1973). Powell currently ranks in a tie for sixth all-time with seven career 100-yard games. Powell became the first Louisville running back to rush for 100 yards or more in four-consecutive games since Anthony Shelman accomplished the feat from Sept. 17 - Oct. 15, 1994. Powell started his streak with 157 yards against Arkansas State and finished it with 105 yards against Connecticut. Powell has eclipsed 200 yards rushing in a game twice in 2010 - tying the school record for most career 200-yard games. Powell needed just 142 carries to reach the 1,000 yard plateau this season. He averaged 143.3 yards per game, good for 7.06 yards per carry for his first 1,003 rushing yards on the season. Powell became the second Louisville player since 1980 to reach the 800-yard rushing mark in six games. The only player to reach the mark previous to Powell since that time was Frank Moreau, who recorded 884 yards through six contests in 1999. Powell recorded his 300th career carry against Cincinnati, and it went for seven yards. Powell recorded his third-straight and fifth-career 100-yard rushing games against the Bearcats. The three-straight 100-yard rushing games is tied for fifth most in school history. Powell's 209 yards against Cincinnati became the seventh highest single game rushing performance in school history. Powell became the second player in school history to rush for at least 150 yards in three-consecutive games. Powell amassed 157 yards against Arkansas State, 204 against Memphis and 209 against Cincinnati. Powell tied the school record by recording his fourth 150-yard rushing game of the year after his 209-yard performance against Cincinnati. Howard Stevens had four such games in 1971. The last player with back-to-back 175-yard rushing performances before Bilal Powell was Frank Moreau, who tallied 181 yards against Kentucky and 188 versus Chattanooga in 1999. Powell rushed for 64 yards on 11 carries against Pittsburgh despite missing most of the second half and the entire Syracuse game due to injury. Powell returned to action against USF, rushing for 140 yards on a career-high 31 carries. He rushed for 109 yards during the second half. After missing most of the West Virginia game due to illness, Powell stormed back against Rutgers on Nov. 26 with 123 yards on 23 carries to go along with two receptions for 28 yards. He recorded a career-high three touchdowns during the 40-13 victory. Powell caught the first two touchdown passes of the game, helping Louisville become bowl eligible for the first time in three seasons.
