Cardinals Set to Host Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational
April 22, 2026 | Track & Field
The meet will take place from Apr. 23-25 at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 12/19 University of Louisville track & field teams are set to play host for the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational, which will be staged over three days from Apr. 23-25 at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park.
The event will be the only home meet of the regular season for the Cardinals, while the program will also host the 2026 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Card Park from May 14-16.
Thursday's events will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET with the women's hammer throw, while the full schedule of events for all three days of competition can be found here.
Admission to the meet will cost $10, while children ages 14 and under will cost $7 and ages 3 and under will be free admission. Parking will be available in the Floyd Street Parking Garage, located directly across from Card Park, for $5 per vehicle.
A group of 60 Cardinals are slated to compete on their home track this weekend, just one week removed from a split weekend across five meets that saw the Cards combine to set two ACC records, five program records, two freshman records, and record 20 performances that currently rank among the top 10 in program history.
Following the five-meet split, both the men's and women's teams were ranked in the USTFCCCA national rankings, the first time since the 2010 outdoor season that both teams have been ranked at the same time. The men's team moved into the rankings for the first time this season, coming at 12th nationally while the women's team slotted in at 19th to make it three consecutive weeks in the top 25.
Additionally, the Cardinals currently boast eight event squads that rank among the top 15 nationally (women's long jump, women's triple jump, women's pole vault, men's long jump, men's pole vault, women's 5000m, men's 800m, and men's 10000m), with the women's long jump squad ranking first in the nation with an average season-best mark of 6.41m (21-0.5).
