Louisville moves to 18-5 on the season as Jayden Gohs secures her third win.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team defeated Illinois 13-5 in six innings to round out the final day of the Cardinal Classic.

Louisville finishes the weekend at 18-5, with a 2-1 bid in conference play, defeating Illinois twice throughout the tournament and Ball State once. Pitchers Madi Reeves and Jayden Gohs combined for all six innings of work, with Gohs grabbing the win in the circle to move to 3-0 on the year.

The teams were scoreless through the first two innings before the Illini put up three runs in the top of the third inning. The Cards answered with a four-run home half of the inning.

Camryn Lookadoo started the scoring by getting hit by a pitch to drive in Easton Lotus. After an Illinois pitching change, Madison Pickens doubled home Chelsea Mack and Bri Despines to tie the score at 3-all. A wild pitch allowed Lookadoo to score as UofL went to the fourth with a 4-3 lead.

With Lotus and Addy O'Dell on base, Lookadoo doubled down the left field line to drive in both runners and spark another four-run inning for Louisville. Pickens singled and Lookadoo moved to third, and both runners crossed home after a single by Jordan Williams added an 8-3 Cards lead.

O'Dell launched her first career home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth to put UofL up by six. Illinois added two runs in the top of the sixth, but a third four-run frame allowed Louisville to walk it off in the sixth.

Williams used a double to bring in Pickens from first before Ava Venturelli knocked a pinch-hit double of her own to plate Williams. Riley Janda replaced Venturelli on the basepaths, while O'Dell walked and Lotus used a groundout to advance both runners. Mack knocked a two-RBI single through the middle to send home the last two runs and clinch a UofL win.

Louisville will round out its 10-game homestand when it faces Evansville on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. inside Ulmer Stadium.
