Cardinals Outlasts Xavier 4-2

 CINCINNATI --Powered by the play of Elena Noguero and Berta Miret, the University of Louisville women's tennis team beat Xavier 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Camargo Racquet Club.Â

The Cardinals (8-4) dropped the doubles point, losing at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots but Miret and Noguero set the tone for singles with a 6-3 win over Ella DeFord and Madeleine Rexroat at No. 2.Â

Moving to singles, Germany Davis upset the No.104-ranked Rexroat 6-1, 6-3 to tie the score at one. Noguero rolled 6-2, 6-4 over Emily Flowers at No. 3. Xavier pushed back with a three-set win at No. 6 to tie the match at two all. UofL's Alice Otis gutted out a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win on court one for the third point. Miret clinched the match with another three set win, going 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 over Clara Owen for the match.Â
The loss moves Xavier to a 5-7 mark

Louisville has the rest of the weekend off and will host Middle Tennessee on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â
