LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville football program bolstered the offensive and defensive lines with the additions of three transfers, head coach Jeff Brohm announced on Friday.
The Cardinals added defensive linemen Miami's Daylen Russell and Purdue's Demeco Kennedy, while adding Delaware offensive lineman Anwar O'Neal.
Russell, a 6-foot-3, 298-pound defensive tackle spent a pair of seasons at Miami. After redshirting his true freshman campaign in 2024, Russell played in five games, collecting six tackles (three solo) and one for loss.
A native of Miami, Fla., Russell was a three-star prospect at Columbus High School. Regarded as a top 30 player at his position, Russell helped lead his team to back-to-back state championships. Russell broke out in 2022, securing 84 tackles and 10 sacks to be named Miami-Dade Defensive Player of the Year.
Kennedy, 6-foot-2, 305-pounder, transferred after playing two seasons at Purdue. Kennedy appeared in all 12 games for the Boilermakers in 2025, earning four starts and playing 450 snaps. He compiled 21 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks on the season. As a freshman in 2024, he appeared in nine games, where he tallied six tackles.
As a senior at Fredrick Douglass, Kennedy finished the season with 14 tackles, including three tackles for a loss. He helped the Broncos to the 2022 Class 5-A state title and a loss to Trinity in the '23 6-A state semifinals in overtime.
O'neal was a standout offensive lineman at Delaware, earning All-CAA Honorable Mention accolades over two seasons and was an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention honoree in 2025. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder, played 25 games in three seasons at Delaware as the Blue Hens transitioned to the FBS level.
The native of Philadelphia, Pa., played more than 900 snaps in 2025 in guiding the Blue Hens to their first FBS Bowl win and a 7-6 overall mark. A starter in 12 games at offensive tackle, O'neal played a pivotal role in helping Delaware average 29.0 points per game and 411.1 yards of total offense.
He played in two games as a freshman in 2023 and then played 11 as a sophomore in 2024, making honorable mention All-CAA honors. He was named honorable mention All-CUSA this season when he started 11 games at left tackle and allowed only six sacks all season.
