Cards Move into a Tie for Second Place at the Blessings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Louisville men's golf team is in a tie for second place overall after the first round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational Monday afternoon from the Blessings Golf Club. The Cardinals shot 11-over-par 299 in the first round.

Cooper Claycomb paced the Cardinals on Monday by shooting a first-round score of 72 to sit one shot off the lead after his first 18 holes. The junior was steady with a pair of birdies and just to bogeys to position himself for a possible tournament title.

Easton Johnson shot a 2-over-par 74 at the difficult Blessings Course to enter Tuesday's round in a tie for 11th place, while Brady Smith is in 20th place after his first round mark of 4-over-par.

Warren Thomis sits in a tie for 26th place with a 5-over-par 77 and Andrew Tan is in 48th place with his round of 83.

The Cardinals will be back out on the course on Tuesday morning for the second round of the tournament. The Cardinals will tee off as a team from Hole No. 1 at 11:30 a.m. ET. Fans can follow the live stats here or on our social media channels.
