Day One at ITA All Americans Successful for Cards

Cressoni, El Amine and Steinbach earn victories in prequalifying round
TULSA, Okla. - The University of Louisville Men's tennis team claimed three wins on the opening day of ITA All Americans at LaFortune Park Tennis Center.
Walid Ahouda was the first Cardinal to finish, dropping his match to Henry Jefferson of Florida, 6-1, 6-4.Â
Senior Pedro Cressoni battled in his first match, defeating Ivan Dreycopp of UNC Charlotte in straight sets by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Hamza El Amine got his start in the later portion of the day with a three-set thriller, rallying back to take down Clemson's Edoardo Cherie Ligniere 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Andre' Steinbach finished the day for Louisville with a dominant first set against Miami's Rafael Segado and then closed with a tight tiebreak set to take the match by a score of 6-0, 7-6 (7-5).Â
All four players will compete again tomorrow in singles with Cressoni, El Amine, and Steinbach advancing and Ahouda playing a consolation match.Â
