Brohm Pleased With Week One Performance, Ready For Challenge of Week Two

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville football head coach Jeff Brohm was satisfied with the Cardinals season opening 51-17 victory over Eastern Kentucky Saturday at L&N Stadium.
"We played some pretty good football in the first half," Brohm said after the game on Saturday. "We did what we needed to move the ball and score points and be efficient when we needed to."
The Cardinals scored on their first five offensive possessions and mixed in a special teams touchdown to race out to a 41-0 lead just before halftime.
Quarterback Miller Moss successfully navigated his first game in a Louisville uniform. The USC transfer finished 17-of-25 for 223 yards and a touchdown before turning over the keys to the backups for the second half.
"I thought (Miller) did a really good job. He was composed, he was efficient, he was accurate," Brohm added. "He made good decisions. There were a couple of times when he scrambled then made a throw even though it got called back with a penalty. Another time he scrambled when there was coverage down in the low red (zone) and scored over the run. Those are the things you have to do as a quarterback."
With last week's game now in the rearview mirror, Brohm has his eyes set on Friday night's challenge against James Madison set for a 7 p.m. ET kick back at L&N Stadium.
"I think we're going to play a good football team in James Madison that knows how to win," Brohm said at his Monday press conference. "They've done it over the years, they've proven it. They play a good brand of football. They give you a lot of things that you've got to deal with both offensively and defensively. They're well-coached and they've got really good players."
James Madison rolled to a 45-10 win over Weber State at home on Saturday, and the Louisville head coach knows his team will have to be well prepared come Friday night.
"They've got a new defensive coordinator, so you take a little bit of what they've done in the past and now what they've done through game one. I think they have good players. They've had a good scheme over the years. They'll be aggressive in their approach, so we're preparing for a lot, not knowing what we're going to see."
Brohm and the Cardinals will aim to carry the momentum from the opening victory into week two against JMU, and hope to use what UofL learned from game one to propel the team to a 2-0 start.
