Williams Signs with the Cards after One Season at New Mexico

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nigel Williams, a transfer from New Mexico, has signed with the University of Louisville football program, UofL head coach Jeff Brohm announced on Monday.

A 5-11, 195-pound cornerback, Williams joins the Cardinals after one productive season with the Lobos. A starter in eight games, Williams was fifth on the team in tackles with 58 and a pair of pass break-ups. He recorded a career high 12 tackles in a loss to Wyoming and added seven stops versus Washington State.

Before his lone season at New Mexico, Williams played four years at Northwestern from 2020-23. He appeared in four games in 2023 and a played in 10 games in 2022, recording three tackles.

A native of Richmond, Va., Williams lettered in football and baseball at Collegiate School. He was a two-time captain in football, playing defensive back, quarterback, running back and receiver. Williams was a three-time all-conference selection and a two-time all-state honoree.
