Rodrigo da Silva adds transfer Matei Onofrei
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's tennis head coach Rodrigo da Silva announced Thursday the signing of Matei Onofrei.
"I'm very excited to start working with Matei on his game," said da Silva. "He is an incredibly hard worker who is fully committed to putting the time and effort in to develop his tennis and take it to the next level."
Onofrei heads to The Ville after spending his freshman year with Oklahoma State.
In his first year of collegiate tennis, Onofrei picked up two singles wins: one in the third spot for the Cowboys and another in the six-hole. He added two doubles victories as well, playing with four different partners throughout the 2024-25 season.
The Iasi, Romania, native was the vice champion of Romania. He's reached as high as 886 in the ATP doubles rankings and 1564 in singles. Onofrei has also achieved an ITF men's world tennis tour ranking of 124.
