Cards Headed to the Tallahassee Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville men's golf team was selected as the No. 5 seed at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional (Tallahassee, Fla.), which will be contested at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club on May 12-14, it was announced Wednesday afternoon on the Golf Channel.
The Cardinals were one of 51 automatic bids combined with 30 automatic qualifiers to qualify for the six regionals. The top five teams from each regional will advance along with the top individual from non-advancing teams from the regions.
UofL is making its seventh consecutive regional appearance and the 15th overall trip in school history. Last season, Louisville was the No. 8 seed in LSU Regional, where they finished in 10th place overall.
The Cardinals, who are making their 10th post-season appearance in the last 12 years, earned a bid after picking up six top-five finishes, including a win at the General Hackler Championship.
Moss, who has elevated himself to as high as No. 5 in the rankings, leads the Cards with a solid 69.81 stroke average in his nine tournament events. The senior owns three tournament wins this season, capturing victories at the Bearcat Invitational, the Fighting Irish Classic and the Calusa Cup.
Easton Johnson is also playing at a high level, with three top 10 finishes and Cooper Claycomb owns a top-10 finish.
The native of Pearland Texas, has finished in the top 20 in all nine events, including seven in the top 10. Including his three tournament wins, Moss was third at the Blessings and the General Hackler.
The Tallahassee Regional features four of the nation's top 25 teams, including Mississippi, the No. 3 ranked team in the nation. Florida State is ranked No. 11, while San Diego State is No. 15 and Georgia is the No. 22 team. The Cards enter postseason play at No. 27.
Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 24-29 at the Omni LaCosta Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
