Cards Ready for Three-Meet Split

The teams will be represented at the Jim Click Shootout & Multis, Jim Vargo Invitational, and Stanford Invitational from Apr. 4-5.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams will split between a trio of meets this weekend from Apr. 4-5 at the Jim Click Shootout & Multis, Jim Vargo Invitational, and Stanford Invitational.

JIM CLICK SHOOTOUT & MULTIS

Schedule of Events
The majority of the team will head to the Jim Click Shootout & Multis, which will take place at Drachman Field on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. The Cards will be represented in Tucson by a group of just over 30 student-athletes consisting of sprinters, throwers, pole vaulters, and combined events athletes.
Competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET with the women's javelin throw, while the women's heptathlon and the men's decathlon with both begin around 2:30 p.m. ET. The full schedule of events for both days of competition can be found here.
Jayden Ulrich will return to the ring in the women's discus throw while also making her outdoor season debut in the women's shot put. Two weeks ago at the USF Alumni Invitational, the senior broke her own school record and the ACC conference record in the discus with an NCAA-leading mark of 66.14m (217-0) that ranks the senior fifth in NCAA history and eighth in American history.
On the men's side, KJ Byrd will make his collegiate debut in the decathlon after a historic indoor campaign that saw him become the first freshman in ACC history to win the conference title in the men's heptathlon. He will be joined in the two-day competition over 10 events by Paul Kallenberg, who will make his first appearance in the decathlon since the 2023 outdoor season, a year in which he won the ACC title in the event.

The Cards will also compete at Bellarmine's Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville, Ky. at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium with a contingent of roughly 20 athletes consisting primarily of jumpers and distance athletes.
The meet will begin with the invitational section of the women's long jump at 4:00 p.m. ET, while track events for the Cardinals will get underway at 6:00 p.m. with the invitational section of the men's 1500m.
Admission to the meet will be $10 for adults, $5 for children between the ages of 4 and 17, and free for children under the age of 3.
Soledad Jean and Miller Jones will lead the charge for the Cardinals at Bellarmine, as Jean will continue her senior outdoor campaign in the women's high jump while Jones will contest the men's long jump.

Four distance runners making their Louisville outdoor debuts will close out the weekend for the Cardinals at the Stanford Invitational, which will take place in Stanford, Calif. at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
The Cards will be represented in the both the men's and women's 5000m with Olivia Alessandrini, Gustav Bendsen, Geoffrey Kirwa, and Layla Roebke set to begin their outdoor campaigns.
Roebke will make her first appearance outdoors in a Louisville uniform in the women's 5000m after an indoor season where she finished as the conference runner-up in the event at the ACC Indoor Championships.
Kirwa will make his collegiate outdoor debut in the men's 5000m at Stanford, as he looks to build off an indoor campaign that saw him set new Louisville freshman records in the mile, 3000m and 5000m.
