Cardinals Head to California for Three-Meet Split

The squads will be represented at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational.
The University of Louisville track & field teams are set to split between three meets this weekend in California, with the squads slated to be represented at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational.

BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL

The Cardinals will begin their week on Wednesday when the squad's distance runners and jumpers compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa from Apr. 16-18.
Â
Tomorrow's competition will begin for Louisville athletes at 10:30 a.m. ET with the first section of the women's 10000m. The full tentative schedule of events for the three days of competition can be found above with the final schedule of events set to be released soon.

On the men's side, Geoffrey Kirwa will make his collegiate debut in the 3000m steeplechase after placing 11that the 2024 Kenyan Olympic Trials in the event last summer. The freshmen set a new program record in the 5000m two weeks ago at the Stanford Invitational, where he clocked a time of 13:30.83.

The women's squad will be led by Layla Roebke, who will also make her Louisville debut in the 3000m steeplechase after beginning her outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational with a school-record time of 15:46.36 in the 5000m.

A select group of jumpers will compete on Apr. 17 at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, with action set to get underway for the Cards at roughly 12:00 p.m. ET.Â

Louisville will field a pair of high jumpers in Soledad Jean (women's high jump) and Josh Moore (men's high jump) set to contest the event, while Miller Jones and Jamaur Williamson are entered in the men's long jump.

The Louisville sprinters will close the split weekend out at the Beach Invitational, which will also take place in Long Beach from Apr. 18-19.

Kiyah Yeast, who broke her own program record in the 200m two weeks ago at the Jim Click Shootout & Multis with a time of 23.22, will compete in the women's 100m, 200m and 4x400m relay as she looks to continue her hot start to the outdoor campaign.
