Cardinals Fall 4-1 at No.5 Virginia

Aliie Gretkowski earns the lone win for Louisville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell to No. 5 Virginia Friday afternoon, 4-1 at the Virginia Tennis Facility.
The Cardinals got down early in doubles action and couldn't claw its way back. The pairing of Alice Otis and Allie Gretkowski fell to the No.1 ranked duo of Elaine Chervinsky and Melodie Collard 6-2 on Court 1. Shortly after, the 28th ranked pairing of Martina Genis Salas and Annabelle Xu got the best of Elena Noguero and Berta Miret 6-1 to claim the doubles point from the Cavaliers.
In singles competition, Blanca Pico Navarro defeated Miret 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot to push the score to 2-0 in favor of Virginia.
Gretkowski puts the Cards on the board after a 6-4, 6-4 straight sets victory on Court 4 to put the score at 2-1 in the match. The win marks her fourth consecutive and eighth overall in dual competition.
On Court 3, No. 114th ranked Isabelle Lacy defeated Noguero 6-4, 6-4 to position the Cavaliers within a point of clinching the match. Shortly after, No. 28 Xu defeated Otis 6-2, 7-5 at the No.1 spot to clinch the match for. Virginia.
UofL will remain in the state of Virginia as they travel to Blacksburg to face No.54 Virginia Tech Sunday, will first serve slated for 12 p.m. ET.
