Cardinals Continue Road Stretch at No. 5 Virginia and No. 54 Virginia Tech

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will hit the road for the final time this season as they face No.5 Virginia and No.57 Virginia Tech. The Cardinals will face the Cavaliers on Friday at 4 p.m. then travel to Blacksburg to face the Hokies on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Cards are entering its toughest stretch of the season as the next five out six matches come against Top 75 opponents according to the latest ITA rankings.
UofL is coming off a split weekend, earning a 7-0 home win against Butler last Friday before traveling to South Bend to face No.33 Notre Dame, losing 4-0 on Sunday.
Louisville continues to shine in singles at the No. 4 and 5 spots as Allie Gretkowski and Germany Davis are a combined 16-7 on the season. Freshman Elisabeth Iila continues to improve, boasting a 6-0 singles record coming into the weekend.
Cardinals vs. Virginia (13-4)
Series Record: Louisville is 1-8 all-time against Virginia with the lone 4-3 victory coming at home in 2017.

Scouting the Cavaliers: Virginia comes in as the No.5 team in the country, falling three spots in the ITA rankings this week after losing to No.17 Cal but defeating No.28 Stanford the previous weekend. The Cavaliers have four individuals ranked in singles: No.18 Elaine Chervinsky, No. 24 Sara Ziodato, No. 28 Annabelle Xu, and No. 114 Isabelle Lacy. Virginia also boasts three ranked doubles pairings, including the No.1 ranked duo in Chervinsky and Melodie Collard.
