Savage Wins Long Jump to Cap Second Day of Bobcat Invitational

The senior opened her season with a mark of 6.34m (20-9.75) in her first outdoor meet since 2023.
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Louisville track & field teams closed out their second day of competition at the Bobcat Invitational, led by an event victory in the women's long jump from Synclair Savage.
In her first outdoor action since the 2023 season, Savage opened up the campaign with a leap of 6.34m (20-9.75) on her final attempt of the competition that gave her the lead for good. Sophia Day joined Savage on the podium, recording a massive personal-best with a mark of 6.15m (20-2.25) to place third overall and move to ninth in program history.
The Cards also saw a quartet of solid performances on the pole vault runway, paced by Ty McPhail's runner-up finish in the men's pole vault in his return to competition in the Louisville uniform.
After redshirting both the 2024 outdoor and 2025 indoor seasons, McPhail cleared a personal-best bar of 5.30m (17-4.5), moving him to second in program history. Cade DeWitt made his outdoor debut for the Cards after missing the 2024 outdoor season due to injury, posting a clearance of 5.15m (16-10.75) to move him to third in the school record books.
In the women's pole vault, Iliana Triantafyllou finished in fourth place with a personal-best mark of 4.30m (14-1.25) to leap up to third in program history, while Lydia Stuart cleared a personal-best of her own, placing eighth with a final bar of 4.05m (13-3.5).
Action at the Bobcat Invitational will resume tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET with the women's high jump and women's triple jump, while Ashley Callahan will contesta the women's pole vault at the Texas Relays at 12:00 p.m. ET.
