Cards complete day one of racing at the Sarasota 2K
SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Louisville rowing team completed the first day of the Sarasota 2K Friday at Nathan Benderson Park.

The day started with time trials for the 19-team field which included No. 18 Alabama, No. 19 North Carolina and No. 25 Central Florida as well as Atlantic Coast Conference foes Boston College and Miami. Find the complete results here.

Once the seeding was determined the second varsity four boat got the racing started with a third-place showing in heat 2, finishing with a time of 8:05.85, less than a second behind Kansas (8:04.89) and nearly three seconds ahead of Michigan State (8:08.02).

The Cardinals' varsity four crew competed in heat one, placing third with a time of 7:44.31, behind Dartmouth (7:33.32)) and UCF (7:27.67) and ahead of Boston College (7:48.81) and Kansas (7:53.79).

Also in the evening session, Louisville's 2V8 boat clocked a time of 7:08.61 to finish fourth in heat 2, closely behind Kansas (7:07.02), Alabama (7:00.60) and UCF (6:51.63) and ahead of Old Dominion (7:35.22) and High Point (7:54.77).

The day concluded with the varsity eight registering a third-place finish in heat three with a time of 6:52.76 behind Dartmouth (6:42.24) and North Carolina (6:41.24) while finishing ahead of Boston College (6:53.73), West Virginia (7:19.24) and Kansas State (18:10.35.93).

The Sarasota 2K will continue on Sunday with the 2V4 boat competing in the petite final at 8 a.m. The Varsity 4 will contest the petite final at 9:50 a.m. with the 2V8 petite final following at 10:20 a.m. The Cards will conclude action with the V8 petite final at 11:10 a.m.
