CARDINAL NOTES
• Freshman Donata Elez was named to the 2025 Preseason ACC Rowing Watch List
• Junior Claire Carver-Ritter was a 2024 ACC second team selection and was named to the For Stars Network Spring 2025 Athlete Watch List
Â
HEAD COACH DEREK COPELAND ON THE SARASOTA 2K
"Although we have been coming to this race for a few years, the format has changed slightly. For the NCAA boats, we will have a time trial on Friday afternoon. This will sort the 19 teams into three heats on Friday evening. This is mostly because it is early in the season, and it would be difficult to seed the teams accurately.Â
Â
There are many teams here this weekend that are currently or have recently been ranked in the top 25. We have already matched up against a couple teams this year and will see many of the other teams in April. After months of preparation, this weekend properly kicks off our competitive season. We cannot afford to just 'go with the flow.' We must push hard at our first opportunity because the ACC is very strong."
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, the Cardinals will return to action April 25-26 when they travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regatta.
