Louisville advances one boat to Final A, two to Final B’s and one to Final C

SARASOTA, Fla. – University of Louisville rowing had a strong showing at the first day of the Sarasota 2k with one boat moving on to the Final A race, two boats to their respective B Finals and one to the Final C.

The Second Varsity 4 crew, led by coxswain Zoe Desserich, turned in a time of 7:48.57, finishing in the top two of its heat. The finish was good enough to send the boat to the A Final on Saturday at 8:20 a.m. The 2V4 boat included Cardinals Angels Ventura Rodriguez, Claudia Smith, Addie Clark and Wilkey Smith.

UofL's Varsity 8 boat advances to the Final B on Saturday after posting a 6:42.60 in its heat. The boat led by coxswain Olivia Guarnaccia, crewed by Macy Whisenand, Claire Carver-Ritter, Grace Rodebaugh, Haley Kunz, Clara Jane Van Dyk, Emma Bell, Anna Brennan and Lexi Bernard, will race in the final at 11:30 a.m.

The Cardinals' Second Varsity 8 boat placed third in its time trial in the third heat with a time of 6:56.36. The boat advances to the B Final, run at 10:10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Louisville's Varsity 4 boat finished fifth in its heat and will compete in the Final C race at 9:30 a.m.
