Doubles Team Victorious in Quarterfinals

Onofrei, Steinbach one win away from clinching a trip to the NCAA doubles tournament
ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Louisville men's tennis tandem of Andre' Steinbach and Matei Onofrei advanced to the semifinals at ITA South Sectionals after defeating their opponent in straight sets.
The Cardinals pair faced off against Alabama's duo of Vit Kalina and Matic Kriznik in the later flight of the day. Onofrei and Steinbach defeated the Crimson Tide pair in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to advance to the next round.
Walid Ahouda competed in a singles consolation match against Braden Hannig, but had to retire due to injury while down 3-1 in the first set.Â
Onofrei and Steinbach will compete against Indiana's Matteo Antonescu and Michael Andre in the semifinals on November 8 with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. The pair that wins the match will earn their spot in the finals and clinch a berth to the NCAA doubles tournament later this month.
