Cards Carry Confidence Moving Forward
November 17, 2025 | Football
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm is focused on correcting mistakes from all three losses to bounce back against an SMU team that is in the thick of the Atlantic Coast Conference race.
Following the third loss of the season Friday night against Clemson, Brohm addressed the emotions coming from his team that resulted in multiple penalties against the Tigers.
"We have to control our emotions and make sure we coach it every single day throughout the week and during gameday," Brohm said. "I think it's okay to be angry after the game - all of us were. I think it's okay to be angry for 24 hours after that as well, and then from there you have got to look at 'let's identify the mistakes, let's get things corrected as well as we can, let's move on and work hard.'"
Despite the bump in the road, the team's confidence is still high looking forward, even after a second straight loss.
"We are moving on to the next game," Brohm said. "We definitely have got things to learn and work on this week, and we will definitely do that all week long and get ready to play a really good football team at their place…"
Brohm is confident his players will come back ready to face another top ACC opponent in the Mustangs.
"I think our guys are going to practice well this week. When you have some tough losses, we always don't move on and throw it out - we're going to identify the mistakes, we're going to talk about it, we're going to correct it, we're going to go through it.
Emphasizing that the team carries its wins and losses together, Brohm said, "We're a team, we're going to focus on what we can do to get better, we're going to not shy away from our mistakes and not talk about them - no, we're going to talk about them. We're going to go through them and we're going to analyze them."
Louisville and SMU face off in Dallas, Texas on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
